About Ethiopian Origin ID for Children (Under 18 Years Old)

This service allows parents or legal guardians to apply for an Ethiopian Origin ID on behalf of children under 18 years old who are of Ethiopian descent. The ID grants eligible children special privileges while visiting or residing in Ethiopia, including visa-free entry and extended stay rights. Applications must be submitted with required documents that confirm the child’s Ethiopian origin.

Requirements

  • Mother/Father/grandmother/grandfather one of them must be Ethiopian origin.

  • A child’s passport with more than 6 months’ validity.

  • A copy of the tourist visa (if it is an e-visa, visa print out) and entry date stamp.

  • A copy of the mother/father’s Ethiopian passport/ /kebele ID/ Ethiopian origin ID.

  • Authenticated birth certificate(If birth certificate is from abroad, it has to be authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

  • If the birth certificate is other than English and Amharic, it must be translated by a legally recognized body.

  • One recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant.

  • If by proxy/guardian, a copy of legal representation document must be submitted to the immigration office.

N.B:- A mandatory service fee applies: 100 USD for regular service and 200 USD for urgent service.

A daily penalty applies if you don’t renew your ID on time.
